The Digital Soil Core is a field probe for real-time soil analysis in agricultural and environmental research, designed to measure soil properties at various depths and deliver precise data to farmers and researchers.
Rebuilt the main housing from first principles, moving to a custom octagonal cross-section to maximize internal volume and rigidity while minimizing wetted area.
Increased sensor density by 75 percent, integrating 3 additional instruments into the legacy footprint through optimized mechanical and optical packaging.
Designed the opto-mechanical packaging for a field-adjustable digital microscope, with a tunable focal plane to counter vibration-induced focal drift in agricultural environments.
The DSC moved from prototype to contract manufacturing, with documentation, DFM refinements, and assembler training developed to support ongoing low-volume production.
